Video Issue - Screen Monkey

Recommended Posts

I am running Screen Monkey via a touch screen, all in one desktop. I am able to run 'images / picture' and project them fine. But when I add video footage, the icon / thumbnail is there, but there is a error with the clip 'A clip failed to initialise while trying to play. This could indicate a fault with the media or the clip type'. I have tried converting the file to various formats inc. AVI / MPEG / MP4 / WMV, I have tried different codecs on AVI (DivX & Xvid) - all have the same issue?

I can also play the files through K-Lite (mpc-hc64)

Is there any advice?

Lee

Right click on the clip and check the settings in the video options menu. Try changing them and see what happens.

Right click on the grid and go in to settings. Check you are on the standard display renderer. While in settings check the log to see if you can get any clues as to what is up.

If all else fails uninstall and reinstall screenmonkey - there is an option to reset the video codecs to default settings during the install, this has fixed things for me before.

Thanks for the replies - no solution to either suggestion.

Gerry - did you install the latest codecs, or older version? I have run the updated codec pack (full)

Thanks,

Lee

I found I needed to install the older 1110 pack. The latest full pack didn't work for me on my system, Windows 7. Also needed to uninstall the latest pack before installing the older version.

Just done some more testing of Screen monkey.

Installed it on my Windows 8.1 machine and found I needed the Codec Pack 11.1.0 for it to run videos.

Also installed on my Windows 10 machine and it worked OK, but I already had an older version of the Codec pack installed.

Cheers

Gerry
