  1. I'm still here! Still haven't finalised anything yet so appreciate all the comments thanks.
  2. I know this will be well below the standard of the forum but hopefully someone can help me. As part of my work with a disability charity we are going to do a podcast, seems the trendy thing to be doing at the moment! There is no budget, so as usual, I'll be paying for any equipment we need so ideally want to keep it as low as possible. I don't think it would ever be more than 2 people so I thought about this mixer with 2 mic inputs. Will that work by connecting it to my laptop via USB so we can record? What software can I use to record the output? Mic wise I found this which the reviews seems largely positive. Will the above do the job for what we need or is there something else that I should look ? I don't imagine we'll be topping the podcast charts anytime soon but would like it to sound as good as possible. Many thanks.

    Snow!

Thanks to everyone for the advice, it seems like it should be possible providing I don't get a duff machine that produces a blobby mess as in the video! Tom - that's an incredibly generous offer thankyou, however with us being 'up North and going into Tier 3 next week (and for the rest of the year it seems) I'm not sure how we would be able to get them from you?

    Snow!

As some of you may know from my previous posts I volunteer at a disabled children's charity and I get involved in anything technical. The subject of fake snow was mentioned on a Zoom call earlier in the week so Ive been spending a little bit of time looking into it. I found a few posts on here that seem to suggest that you are lucky to get a season out of a snow machine while on hire and to just buy the el'cheapo ones for that reason. We are however only looking at using it once on Christmas day above the patio doors so the kids can look out at the "snow". There are some on Amazon for £70-90 which I wouldnt mind paying if we were going to use them for a 4 week period but for a one off its going to make it an expensive affect. Can these units be cleaned properly after a single use and stored away until next year? Alternate thoughts were snow confetti but thats not something Ive ever used either. A full risk assessment would be carried out as I know snow machines can make the floor slippy.

    Multi zone audio

As much out of curiosity as anything but how is audio split from a (small) mixer to multiple zones? I have been chatting to a friend about his pub and the PA system isnt up to much so he was asking what could be done to split things into different zones for different areas playing the same source but just at different volumes. He has a mixture of bands, DJS, football and backgournd music. He has a contact with a local company that he is going to approach but I dont know how its done so thought I would ask the question. He has a small Behringer mixer with 2 outputs that he essentiall wants to split into 4 or 5 "zones" because of the unusual layout of the pub. Once set the individual zones wont need adjusting. Is there something that can route the signal to multiple amps? Many thanks for any information.
  6. Just a quick follow up on this and further to the above advice I worked my way through the "Misc" folder in the heads section but sadly couldnt find a suitable fixture however I then found a "Chinese" folder and after an hour or so of trial and error found the correct profile.
  7. We have been gifted 8 led par cans that have nothing on them, no names, serial numbers, nothing, so Im not sure how to set them up in MagicQ. They come from the estate of a sadly deceased gentleman who's wife has no further information on them so Im totally in the dark, no pun intended. They look quite well built compared to some I had previously purchased from China and decided not to use so it would be good if I can get them working. Can anyone suggest a starting point please? Is there a section in the instructions for creating your own fixture once the channels have been identified? Many thanks for any assistance.
  8. Thanks cedd, Ive ordered a pack of those from Amazon as they were a similar price but much shorter deliver. One other quick question that I see has been touched on above - can I use fog juice in the atomiser for this purpose?
  9. Long time watcher and first time poster so go easy on me http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif Love this effect cedd, one of the best Ive seen and something I would love to recreate to a similar level in the future. One question I do have however is what e-cigarette did you use as I have never even held one to know if they are all of a similar construction or if they vary greatly? Hoping to try something on a smaller scale for a Halloween prop if I get time. Many thanks.
