Magician Haze in a can

Got an event on this evening at Church. Just a chilled out concert. I've got a couple of 30W cheapo movers and some LED pars in for it. I've been thinking about haze (I don't have a hazer) and have the option of using a fan and my smoke machine. It seems a little overkill though, especially as my smoke machine is a flipping huge Martin one. I don't think it'll hang for long enough - I'd rather not be triggering it during the event, just beforehand to build up haze if possible.

It got me thinking though, I've got a tin of that "Magician" haze in a tin that I bought for a demonstration using a lazer. I only used a couple of squirts of it, so I've nearly got a full tin. It claims that a tin will spray for 5 minutes and will hang for up to 2 hours. The room is a church hall that seats a couple of hundred people. It'll only maybe have a hundred in tonight though. It's pretty airtight - no real draughts or air handling.

Anybody used the Magician stuff to fill a room before? Does it "do what it says on the tin" and how large a room will it fill? I only need a light haze for picking these mover beams out. I know I could just try it and see how it goes, but if it doesn't work then I've wasted the tin and will also have a bit of a rush to get the smoke machine warmed up and sorted. Don't want to start with the haze until the last possible moment.

Of course what I really need to do is go out and buy a Unique..... maybe next year I'll be able to afford it!

I've only ever used it (rebadged) as a can of hairspray for the musical - it makes a nice visible display at the moment of squirting and a chemical fug for a few seconds afterwards but I'd struggle to believe it had any lasting effect anywhere other than in someone's bedroom disco. 12 cans of it used extensively in a song-n-dance routine had vanished by the next number...

Fair enough. I'll grab the smoke machine and my desk fan! Thinking about it, I think it's what they were using in the production of Hairspray that I did last week and it did exactly what you said, looked good for a few seconds and then vanished. That said, it was a 1500 seat house with a chuffing huge fly tower.

I think the fact that it's sold primarily in Maplins says enough for me - house parties and discos maybe, but probably not what I need.
