Hi, does any one know how heavy standard black out drape is per m2 or ft2 ?

What is the material, velvet, wool surge, bolton twill or what?

It'll be wool serge, I kind of knew this would be a 'how long's a piece of string question', I'll have to get the info from the draping company after bank holl, just fancied working out a rough load on a truss today :)

It will also depend on who's material you use, wool serge comes in anything from about 290gsm to600 gsm.

A good quality is going to be around 500gsm with something around 350 being ok for the more budget minded

And don't forget to multiply in your fullness if you are going for a pleated drape - it can more than double the weight of the drape.

remember to account for any chain in the pocket at the bottom. If there is chain it's to add weight to make things hang well so it will not be plastic chain.

I suppose the acid test is, how heavy is the whole drape you're flying, not worked out by a g per m2 formula, just the flying weight as specified by the supplier.
