JTilling
HII am trying to re-end an SDI reel at the moment. I have plenty of experience re-ending BNC's in the past but I just cant seem to get this one to fit. The inner copper core seems to be to thick to fit in to the hole in the tip. I wondered if anyone could help me out with any advice or if there is any where I can get a tip with a bigger hole in it. I just need the one for now although it would be good to eventually be able to buy a load of them as the new job I've started has always previously sent cables away to be fixed etc or just binned them. Since Ive started they've realised I am good at fixing cables (usually other than this one!!) and are giving me broken cables here and there to fix up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Brian
...but I just cant seem to get this one to fit. Then you've got the wrong BNC for that cable. What cable is it?
JTilling
Managed to google the cable in the end and found that it had been specifically made by a company. A quick call to that company and I found out that it was a specific Neutrik end. Unfortunately its out of stock for a couple of weeks as they had a supplier shortage or something so no one can get hold of any but its on order! :) Also I will never go to marlin's again to try and buy anything like that! what a mistake! Brian
... a specific Neutrik end. It's very likely there is a generic part if you're in a hurry.
sleepytom
Canare or Amphenol will almost certainly make the correct end. Canford have a useful chart which generally will tell you what connector will fit which cable types... http://www.canford.co.uk/CO-AXIAL-CONNECTORS-SELECTION-GUIDANCE
