Flame resistant silk flower

Hello People,

I have a show that wants 40 big silk roses on stage for a show, we found the ideal flower. The theatre we are putting them into are asking for a fire cert for these flowers.

I did a small flame test on one and it set alight like it was dunked in petrol. Is there a way of making these fire retardant ? Will dosing them in flame-bar be a good enough job, and if we cover them in flame bar what do we do about a certificate ?

Hope the hive mind can help.

Cheers

Andi

I doubt that Flambar will help if they do burn as described. You really need to look for material which is IFR (Inherently Flame Retardant)

With the sad news of Grenfell House in mind we need to step up to the mark. How about stealing the pattern from one of the less than ideal roses and remaking it in IFR? I didn't say that, honest, officer.

So clearly from your first post you have NOT found the ideal flower, and the performing house has asked for proof which your chosen flower fails.

I've had some nice samples of DFR and IFR fabrics from Joels colours other than black do exist. One working petal cutout is the shape of a deflated balloon. Start playing with folding paper then progress to folded fire retardant material.
