PatM
Hi I'm new to the forum after lurking for a few years reading posts. I've recently bought 16 Chauvet pixel bars (32 channels) which I would like to run with other DMX par rgbw lighting.I'm looking at changing from a simple Chauvet Obey 70 to some software.Currently I'm looking at Avolites Titan 1, Chauvet Showexpress, Chamsys magic Q or lightjams. We mainly do mood and effects lighting in decor environments, so don't really need to use moving heads.Essentially I want something that is easy to design chases in for the pixel bars.We often leave our equipment in situ for weeks at a time on events, so I will probably use a DMX replayer/recorder to run the DMX. I haven't used any of the software yet, any advice gratefully received. Many thanksPat
timsabre
If you are mainly doing pattern-based stuff, have a look at Madrix. Never heard of Lightjams before but that looks similar to Madrix. Titan and MagicQ, while you can make them do what you want, are probably not the easiest way for this situation.
PatM
Thanks Timsabre I had a feeling that avolites and magicq are more for all singing all dancing moving head style shows.I'll see how I go with Madrix. Many thanksPat

peza2010
Madrix is a costly purchase and a bit of a learning curve for something so simple. Lightjams would probably do the job - but id personals buy a titan one dongle and be done with it as that will give you a professional playform than can expand with you. I think I'll try titan 1 and see how I get on with it. I can easily hire a consol for larger events, and then I'm learning an industry standard.thanksPat

That's true... it is quite a steep learning curve to start with, Avolites have some good training videos on their youtube channel (or even better, get over to one of their training days in London)You will want to be looking at the pixel mapper functions of Titan, once you get the basics mastered.
