  1. I’m narrowing my list down to the following options because weight is a huge factor for me. RCF HD10a FBT Promaxx 110a I may also try the QSC K10.2 but I’m not sure about this one. I’ve read lots of users having reliability issues with the amp module though I don’t know which version of the firmware they were all using. Also, I’m not sure they would give me a noticeable step up in audio performance that would reflect the much higher price over both the RCF and FBT models?
  2. Hi, I’m looking to buy a set of IEM’s for monitoring mainly keys, bass, vocals and sometimes drums. At the moment I’m using a pair of Shure SE215’s with custom mould sleeves. I’ve had the sleeves for several years and as my ear has naturally changed shape, the sleeves don’t fit as snug as they used to. As a result, I need to replace the sleeves and am looking to upgrade the SE215’s at the same time. The SE215’s have been ok but I find them to sound quite thin. I would prefer something with a fuller/richer sound and improved clarity and separation of instruments without sounding overly bright or harsh. Having had a quick look around, the two options that stick out are the Shure SE535 and Audio Technica ATH E70. Which of these would you recommend and is there anything else within this price range that would be a better option for me?
  3. Thanks James. I actually heard those EV’s a couple of months ago and they were being used for speech and were very impressive. However, I would like to use the same system to cover both jobs. Also, those EV’s are passive and I would like active speakers.
  4. Thanks guys. The EV ZXA1’s are good speakers but sadly don’t have quite enough bass extension. I’ve used various trucks for shifting gear but half the time I find them more awkward than just carrying lightweight speakers.
  5. Thanks guys. I’m not planning on using the subs all the time. I am using just the single pair of Alto TS210’s by themselves for a large portion of events. I’ve heard there has also been quite a number of issues with the QSC K10.2 amp modules. What are your thoughts/experience with the FBT Promaxx 110a?
  6. Hi, I run sound for a number of different sized events from a single mic on stand for speech to full bands for audiences for around 400 people outdoors. I own a few different systems from three Alto TS210's - pair of FBT X-Lite 12a's - pair of Yamaha DXR15's + pair of QSC KW181 subs. Over the past year or so I've been moving away from the larger events and mainly do sound for small acoustic acts and for speeches at corporate events etc. I haven't used the QSC KW181's for around 18 months and only used the DXR15's three times. For around 90% of my work I have just been using the Alto TS210's. These have been surprisingly good and I've used them for jazz trios and vocal ensembles where I've run piano, bass and 4 vocals through them at events with up to 100 people. One thing I've always been surprised at is how well these budget 10" speakers handle bass guitar. However, as more and more of my work just only requires 10" tops I am looking to upgrade and build a system where I can take out just the 10" tops for some events or add a pair of small lightweight subs if needed. If possible I'd like this system (10" tops + small subs) to at least match the audio quality, output and depth of bass of the single pair of DXR15's. Due to a back injury I have a specific set of requirements for these speakers. I need them to be very lightweight as I will be using these in some venues where I have to carry these long distances with lots of steps. I also need at least one side handle with a vertical hand grip. Finally I need something that is going to be a step up from the Alto TS210's regarding audio quality, output and depth of bass whilst still having very low self noise. I've been doing a little browsing online and have made this shortlist :- Alto TS410 RCF HD10mkV FBT Promaxx 110a RCF 910AX (new upcoming model with built in digital mixer) QSC K10.2 Are there any other models I've missed that you would recommend? I willing to spend roughly £800 per speaker. Has anyone had any experience with more than just one of these options? What would you recommend?
  7. Hi, Has anyone on here had any experience with the EV RE3 handheld wireless mic systems?I like the look of these systems as they appear to offer good features for the money with switchable mic heads that looks like it will be compatible with other manufacturers heads and the handheld transmitter has a metal case!. I have used the n/d767a and newer ND86 mics with good success though I wasn't a fan of the n/d967. How do these systems compare to the Sennheiser EW100 G4 and Shure SLX?
  8. Hi, Thanks for the suggestion and recommendation. I already own a pair of FBT X-Lite 12a’s which are pretty decent lightweight 12” tops so not sure if the EV ELX200’s would offer much of an improvement? Also, I’m trying to reduce the size of my system as much as possible and don’t really want 12” tops anymore.Have you compared the EV ELX200 system to the FBT VN2000?
  9. Hi, I heard a quick demo of the FBT VN2000 in a showroom today and have to say this tiny system really exceeded my expectations! At the moment I’ve been just using a single pair of Yamaha DXR15’s which have been working out surprisingly well but I no longer want to be lifting speakers weighing nearly 23kg onto stands anymore. I would like something that can at least match the output the DXR15’s but preferably go a fraction louder with greater depth of bass. I also want something much lighter to be lifting onto stands. From what I briefly heard from the VN2000 today I would expect this system to tick all those boxes. However, I’ve also heard good things about the RCF HD10a/702ASII system and am pretty torn between the two. Unfortunately I’m not going to be able to do a side by side comparison of both systems so am pretty torn with what to do?I can get an ex-demo VN2000 system for around £2400 or which is over £800 off new price. Or I can get the RCF HD10a/702asII system brand new for £2200. I plan on using this system for live music to tun 4-5 vocals, keys, bass, guitar and a small amount of miked drums. What are your thoughts/recommendations on the FBT VN2000 and the RCF HD10’a + 702asII?
  10. Hi, I'm looking to possibly replace my pair of Yamaha DXR15's with a small and lightweight active system for live bands. The DXR15's are working out really well for me but I would like to reduce the weight that I'm carrying. I also own a pair of QSC KW181 subs but I'm not really using these anymore as I'm scaling down on the work I'm doing. Ideally I'd like a really small lightweight pair of 12" subs and 10" tops and have seen the RCF HD10a/702AS + FBT Ventis 110a or Promaxx 110a paired with the Subline 112a subs. Both of these systems appeal due to a combination of weight/price. I would ideally like the sub to weigh no more than my DXR15 tops (23kg) and the tops to be as light as possible but offer decent output and bass extension. Has anyone on here had any experience with these systems or could you recommend a system under £3000?
  11. Hi, I am currently using a Yamaha DXR15/QSC KW181 system for live music but am moving towards doing sound for smaller events and am looking to scale down my PA. I've been looking around and am very interested in the RCF HD10a/702AS and FBT Promaxx 110a/Subline 112sa systems and am wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with these? Another option I'm considering is picking up a secondhand Nexo PS8/LS400 system but prefer the convenience of having an active system as I don't really want to carry extra hassle of setting up the separate amp and processor. The types of gigs I'll be doing are for live jazz and smooth soul type acts for around up to 200 people. I've been doing this successfully with a single pair of Yamaha DXR15's and regularly run upright or electric bass, guitars, keys, vocals kick drum and even fully miked kits on occasions. However, I am starting to find the DXR's really heavy to lift onto the tripods. Also, I would expect having separate 10" tops and 12" subs would be a step up in efficiency, clarity and depth of bass. Has anyone had any experience with either the RCF, FBT and/or Nexo system? What are your thoughts on one of these options for live acoustic music
