aknighto
Evening all, I'm trying to identify a good drawing package for creating scaled lighting and stage plans but without having to sell my children to fund the purchase!. Up till now I've been using Stardraw but this package is no longer supported and has become problematic of late. I've given LXfree a go but this is a little basic for my needs so I'm looking for something comparable in features to Stardraw with the facility to save files in DWG format. Any help or suggestions gratefully received.

andy_s
Draftsight?secondedI don't know Stardraw so can't compare, but I use it for stage groundplans, construction drawings and lighting plans and it fits the bill.
J Pearce
Draftsight does pretty much everything that autocad does. Can't fault it for free (or the small charge for the extra features that you might want).
alistermorton
If you do try it - when you register it it needs to be running as an administrator as it writes to its own directory. Not a problem on xp, but anything newer won't like it as a normal user.
trussmonkey
draftsight +1 . The professional version isnt much money either. It doesnt do 3d work. Also try Google SketchUp. The free version is very good. The Pro version gives more options. SketchUp Pro
