CPC/UPS and a simple mic stand...

I don't normally have problems with CPC.

I don't normally have problems with UPS either...

However both seem to be struggling to maintain that balance this last week or so.

As part of an order a couple of weeks ago, I ordered a simple budget range round-based mic stand for a client - this one in fact.

What arrived was half right - all I got was the round cast base - no actual stick to attach to it...

I duly reported the fact to the after sales guys and was told that they'd look into it and send out the missing bit ASAP.

What arrived was half-right again - ANOTHER round base with no stick...

After confirming what it was, I duly sent that back with the UPS driver and contacted CPC again - one phone call later told me that they'd searched everywhere and couldn't find the missing part anywhere in the warehouse, and a supervisor had also done the rounds - but they'd send me a complete new item once they were back in stock (Oct 3rd) - I got a returns number last Thursday and I agreed that UPS could pick up the one I had from the theatre today.

This is where UPS seemingly erred (unless CPC mis-informed them) as a UPS driver turned up at the theatre on FRIDAY (I'd popped in briefly) with the intent of collecting the box that was still sat at home at that time.

Then today, the doorbell rang with another UPS delivery in a CPC box... Not expecting anything else, I made the driver wait whilst I opened it to reveal a THIRD round base for a non-existent stick...!!

Obviously that went straight back into the van.

So - unless I'm missing something, I'd say that there's something awry with the CPC stock situation on this one...

Sheesh!

They've just realised that 1000 sticks were in a separate container from China and that's arriving on 8th October. 994 customers so far have bases but no sticks :-)

Part of me laughs at this as a joke, but there's still another part that would NOT be surprised... :)

I had a similar run-around with a pair of Control 1s. The first delivery of three pairs included one 100v pair. Sent those back, got 8ohms.

Sometime later, ordered another pair of 8ohm. Got THE SAME 100v pair. (Box had been opened, by me, and taped back up)

Rinse & repeat TWICE.

I'm sure the restocking monkey just couldn't see what was wrong with them, and bunged them back on the shelf with the rest of the 8ohm stock,

Well just to add to this. I have ordered soldering Iron handle for my Metcal this this http://cpc.farnell.c...iece/dp/SD01490 last month and I got one of their cheap soldering Irons which you plug into the mains. This happened 4 times and in the end I told them to refund me as I have gone else where and I don't need it now and today I just got the item I ordered with them. I have also to check to see if they have refunded me as I requested. I think the UPS driver was starting to get pi**ed off.

Someone in the warehouse must be messing around and sending out what ever he/she wants or they have staff that have no english.

I notice the email confirmation you receive when you place an order online includes the following optimistic statement:

Thank you for ordering from CPC. We are currently processing it carefully.

Sad part is they are normaly extremly good, at least that has been my experience until now!

In the past few years I've had the extra nine items sent three or four times. If it's something useful, they'll ask you to post the nine back, if it's not they'll tell you to keep them. Oddest CPC stuff up was about 5 years ago - ordered a 22" computer monitor and got a 5' long TV aerial. Actually managed to convince them to send the right item out before they'd got the wrong one back and with free Saturday delivery too

We have had some very poor packing from CPC. We recently ordered some CO2 fire extinguishers for some on site safety kits. They were shipped loosely wrapped in cardboard boxes, with nothing to prevent the extinguisher from moving. In transit the safety tags snapped, pins fell out and the extinguisher was set off in the box. This happened twice, (once at the UPS depo) before they shipped a set with the cardboard box thorougly wrapped in bubble wrap. However, there was still nothing to stop the extinguisher moving in the oversized box, and the usual rigours of courier shipping had caused the handle to buckle and twist rendering the unit totally unusable. We finally got lucky on I think our 4th set, but was amazed that potentially hazardous pressurised goods were being sent out with such poor packaging.

I ordered a mic stand with round base from them last year, and they had just wrapped the stand suppliers cardboard box in plastic. It had been dropped in transit and the cast base had cracked.

When they sent out a replacement the message had obviously got through to the warehouse because they had used most of a roll of bubble wrap - it hardly fitted through the door!
