NRC level 2 assessment

Hi,

Is there such a thing as a practice exam or something similar available for the written parts of the NRC assessment? Or anything that will help me go in the right direction with training/reading in prep for it? I'm still a while away from registering for the exam, but there seems to be little information about whats involved other than evidence of experience, practical and written/oral questions, but not what they are about. I'm guessing generic health and safety and some pythagorus, but is there anything that might be a little more obscure I should be looking at?

I have both the Plasa handbook and Chris Higgs intro to rigging book, but if there are any other reading materials you can recommend, please do!

thanks in advance!

There's nothing obscure in there, it should be pretty straightforward. Everything you need to know for the 'theory' side of the assessment is in the handbook, and Chris's book should flesh things out a bit for you.

If you can get a look at a copy, through your local library perhaps, you might find Harry Donovan's Entertainment Rigging worth a read. Not so much that it'd be worth buying your own copy though. (More so than I thought - it was about sixty quid, but looking at that link now it seems it's gone out of print and second hand copies are silly money.)

Same book, cheaper prices! But still not cheap, you must decide on value.

"Cheaper", holy moly!

I had two copies at one point and gave one away. Perhaps I should've hung on to it. ;)

Value is a no-brainer for someone in the OP's position imo - worth a read if possible, not worth buying unless you have money to burn.

Hi,

No such thing as a practice exam. The NRC is not a training course it is a test of competency. You should already have the skills to pass it before you turn up for the course.

As Seano said everything you need (theory wise) is in the handbook. However, if your practical skills are lacking the handbook wont help much. Have a word with other L2 riggers and find out what was on their practical.
