Le Maitre Neutron XS DMX Hazer

Hi everyone,

We have a Neutron hazer with the DMX controller at our theatre, which is controlled via an ETC ION, via the ETC Net 3 Show Control Gateway. It is addressed currently at 200, and on Universe 1 of 2. We seem to have the issue where it doesnt respond to DMX.....

The controller shows that the Neutron is powering it, and the DMX signal LED is lit, however it doesnt respond to the ION.

Anyone have any ideas? I believe that different DMX cables have been used to see if it was a cable issue, but this doesn't seem to be resolving the issue...

Many thanks in advance! :)

How is it patched on the Ion? IIRC the DMX control for the Neutron XS only allows for an 'on' or an 'off'' and doesn't allow you to control the flow like you can on a Unique... Have you tried whacking it at full?

The hazer works fine in stand alone mode, I had to turn it on and off several times on Friday for a production due to the DMX not working on it...the joys - I'll try re patching it on the Ion tomorrow and see if it will work :)

It could be a DMX timing issue between the desk and the neutron hazer. Try using a DMX merge between the desk and the hazer as the Showtec one I use seems to output a DMX timing that suits a lot of strobes that don't respond to some desks. Doe the hazer work with other DMX desks ?

I have one of these, there is a LOOOOOOONG delay between the hazer receiving an 'on' signal and it actually visibly working, somewhere between 30 seconds and a minute, which can feel like a lifetime. Also, the way my desk (an Orb) is set up the on signal for haze is actually a beam parameter ( I'm not sure why) so make sure you are actually truly sending an on signal.

Incidentally, ever since I bought the Neutron I've been dissappointed with the noise level which I equate to someone sitting in the wings blowing through a desk fan. Which can be pretty annoying for quiet scenes. How have you found yours?

Hi guys,

Did you find a solution to this in the end? I have 2 Neutrons with DMX interfaces I just bought second hand, and they both seem to be doing the same thing (Though one was working the day before yesterday but then started this issue during yesterday's dress run).

The first time you turn them on they are fine, haze comes out, and when you turn the channel off on the desk they turn off. When you turn the channel back on on the desk, the pump and fan kick in again (so it must be receiving the signal), but no haze comes out. Even if you then remove the DMX and switch it to continuous haze, no haze comes out. It seems the only way to make it haze again is to turn the power off and back on.

Anyone got any ideas??

Thanks

Rach
