The hydraulic ram used on 'Cats' could do something similar. However, it does have a large point load as it weighs in at around 8 tons.

Very odd with that youtube clip. I'm trying to link to it the way I've always done. Wonder if there's a preference to not allow external links? Anyway, it seems to be exactly what you're describing - an arm, but in a portable form. Like I say, if you stick it in the search then it comes up. It's a counterweighted system rather than hydraulic. It looks like the operator is holding some kind of "pickle" in their hand. Not sure if this is operating the rotation motor (if it has one) or is some kind of emergency stop/brake function. It shows somebody coming down to land and then unhooking straight away, so I guess it's equipped with a brake as at that point it'd be very "cradle heavy". It's in that situation that I'd be worried about it being unstable more than most.

Weird. I clicked the link and got a youtube 'unavailable', then tried the search and found the video at the same URL.
I wonder if the link works if you go via tinyurl?
http://tinyurl.com/flyingcartwheel directs to here.

Edit to add: first link works for me, second one doesn't. Same URL. How strange.

Interesting. Obviously aimed at the film business where there will be huge levels of expensive post production!

Sorry, it's our over eager swear filter trying to correct the lack of capitalisation of the "i" in the link. I've edited the original post so the link should work now.
