Magnum 2000 with Motion Sensor

Hey guys,

I have a Magnum 2000 that I would like to trigger off of a motion sensor such as This

The magnum instructions say that I have to have around 2v as a constant supply to keep the machine in ready mode. and then need 9v to Fire a decent amount of smoke. I would like to power this off of a 9v battery.

This should be a really simple circuit but my brain isn't working today- Can any one help?!

Thanks

Hi Andy,

Is this to plug in to the remote if so do you have the full pin out of the connector as you may not even need the 9v battery as there should be more power there to power the controls for the smoke machine. if you have the pin out and colours of each wire in the remote.

Should be able to help you out as I have made Thomann cheep hazers work on DMX and I have also made other somke machines work on DMX and also controlled from other items as well.

Also how soon do you need it. You can PM me if you want

Hi Andy,

I have a gotten a lone of a Magnum 2000 and I also have the remote. The good news is it is owned by someone who I know they do not mind me opening it up to look at see if I can do what you want.

The bad news is I can not do it as the remote has a microprocessor in it (well the controls that I have here does).

I can do it very easy to a cheep one from Thomann like this one http://www.thomann.de/ie/stairville_sh150.htm

I have 3 of them and they all work on homemade DMX convert for them.

so making these wore with a motion sensor will be very easy

I think the microprocessor in the remote just does the timer function. It's still a DC control signal back to the machine, if you can identify which wire goes to 10V when you press the fire button then you've cracked it

I have the wire but there is more going on with it as I have put the scope on it and it does have some pulses that repeat. I have tried feeding 0 to 11v in to it on the right pin and it would not fire.

If someone on here has the service manual for this hazer (Magnum 2000) please pm me as it could have a clue to helping OP of this post

Its quite simple circuit surely

Use the motion sensor to switch a transistor or relay on the return line of the remote

The 3 pin xlr for the remote is ground, supply and return

Its very easy to work out the pin out with a meter

Or forget the remote and build a basic remote, potential devider or zenor diode to keep 2v to keep the machine on, another to give 10v to switch with the sensor
