Dj Dunc
Howdy all. So I understand the basic principles of line array theory, however I want to do some serious reading on the theory behind line arrays, cardioid sub arrays, delays, etc etc. Generally the theory behind the big PA rigs in live events. I have read all of Dave Rats blogs but I just want a paper copy to study. Is there any particular books that I should get, or avoid hehe. Im not afraid of hardcore research. many thanks Duncan
Simon Lewis
Duncan, Each manufacturer usually has a technical or white paper on how they have 'solved' the issues of line arrays - and how their approach is better than any competitor! There are some good papers in the AES archive (at cost) or you can buy this book: Bob McCarthy's book Simon
Shaggy
I've got / read Sound Systems: Design and Optimization by Bob McCarthy, which covers what you are interested in. Goes into plenty of detail but no real maths.
stevebunting
Duncan, Bob McCarthy's book is the book to read. Good luck!

mostlyharmless
If you want to get very very technical then; http://www.amazon.co.uk/Loudspeaker-Headph...1329&sr=1-1 And hunt the library for the post-war edition of this:http://www.amazon.co.uk/Applied-Acoustics-...mp;sr=1-3-fkmr0 (I found a 1954 copy in a university library once)
