"Fly Spray"

Recommended Posts

I need to use a "fly spray" for our next production. This has to be sprayed over/around cast so I cannot actually use commercial fly spray can due to obvious health and safety. I have thought of using compressed air can (air duster), but would like the spray to be visual if possible. Any ideas? My other choice would be a small hand held garden sprayer that you pump up to pressurize and spray water, but not sure if I could get a fine enough mist. Any other options would be appreciated.

I haven't used the canned haze, but I think air duster if you can find a visible one (they do exist*) would be better than haze, as it will disappear faster in a more realistic way.

- that's what you see when the "rocket" takes off at the beginning. I'm afraid it's a long time ago and I didn't source the cans originally, so can't offer more guidance than that..

they were disguised as cans of furniture polish with a fake label made in Photoshop or some such.

Air dusters etc use butane and all sorts of similar nasty propellants.

The normal trick here is to purchase aerosols of saline / contact lenses solution, swap the nozel on it from a jet to a misting nozzle and stick a label on saying hairspray / fly spray or whatever you need. Now you've got a can that will produce a nice visible cloud that vanishes quickly, isnt dangerous to inhale and won't stain
