Hy

In the beggining I want to excuse my poor english language, I am from Romania.

I have received as a gift one audio mixer, SOUNDCRAFT SPIRIT FOLIO 12/2,without the power supply.

I want to make a voltage transformer, but I don't know the voltage/current and pin-out of the power supply unit.

It have a plastic in-line connector with 3 pins , but what voltage is there?I think that the middle is the common pin (0 V) but the others?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Best regards to everyone!

Good Day Cry ss

They are good little budget desk but the power supply connector is not the best and I think it is a connector unique to Soundcraft. If you are able to and have access to the tools and connectors I would replace it. Your other option would be to wire the psu to the mixer permanently.

I would suggest you buy a new power supply intended for the mixer if possible, There are at least 2 voltages on the connector, probably 48V for phantom power for microphones that require it and maybe 15 or 17V for the audio electronics.

I note that you are in Romania and that purchasing such an item may be difficult but you may be able to purchase one on Ebay but there are none listed at present in the UK.

You can look up the Power Supply here

Soundcraft dealer in Romania is listed as:

Thank you for replying.

I have already e-mailed the Dealer from Romania, no answer (yet).

Yes, I want to replace the power supply with a Voltage transformer, but I dont know the pins there what values have, 18-0-18 , or 20-0-20 volts, or another voltage.

Is the only thing I wanna know, from the moment I have this info I will make my own transformer , permanently adapted to the mixing desk.

I am still looking for the power input diagram.

Have a nice day!

I don't think it is V-0-V type PSU. As stated in my original post.

I used to have one of these, I'm pretty sure the PSU was simply a transformer in a box something like 18V-18V AC supply with the other pin connected to the centre tap. The phantom power was 36V derived from the AC.

I've got two here.

On one, the PSU is marked up 19V - 0 - 19V AC 400mA

With no load this meters at about 23.4V - 0 - 23.4V AC

the other, older* one says 17.1V - 0 - 17.1V AC 400mA

With no load this meters at about 21.3V - 0 - 21.3V AC

To be honest, it's the first time I've noticed that they're not the same & I've just been using the first one I grab with no problems at all.

* There's a PAT sticker on it from 2000 (as well as one that I put on last year)

I apologise if my posts are wrong which they may be. My PSU is mounted and I cannot get to it easily. 18V-O-18V could probably be rectified, smoothed and regulated on board to give 48V for phantom power. I do seem to remember coming to the conclusion that rectification etc. was in the desk rather than the PSU.

Sorry to bump this thread. I have a Folio 10/2 mixer with PSU missing as well. Can I make a replacement PSU from this?:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181778521454

If yes, which side should I connect the negative, and which one the positive? I mean the pins on the mixer. The innermost pin must be connected to the positive or the outermost?

No.... it's a DC power supply. You need an AC power supply with centre tap, basically a transformer in a box.

You can find the service manual for the Soundcraft Spirit 8-channel desk here:

http://elektrotanya.com/soundcraft_spirit_fx8_f1-8.pdf/download.html

The other variants are all based on the same modules.

The power supply schematic is on page 6 and shows that the external supply is simply 18-0-18 AC. It's very easy to build a replacement but not so easy to find the appropriate 3-pin female plastic connector!

That's the nasty little 3 pins in a row thing isn't it? Best thing to do with it is drill a hole in the back panel and fit a proper connector. Horrid little thing...
