Hi Guys I have a dead main PCB transformer in my Jem Technohaze It is a Dantrafo unit. I have mailed the manufacturer but they are Sweden based and if available will probably take ages and expensive.Does anyone know of an alternative I can use from the UK please. The numbers on this unit are DT 12966-1

Thanks in advance guys, much appreciated

Have you tried calling Jem?

Martin Manufacturing,

Belvoir Way, Fairfield Industrial Estate,

Lincolnshire, England LN11 0LQ

Tel: 01507 604399

Hi, yes been in contact with Martin Lighting, who now own Jem, they haven’t got any so contacted transformer manufacturer in Sweden who said they can’t supply one as they were made specifically for Martin who own the rights apparently?I have the specs now from Gary at Martin but the pin configuration on all the ones I’ve looked at are different? This is what Gary sent: Traffo - 2 x 110V/ 9v/ 1VAAny ideas? or links to correct replacement please? Thanks

Can you post a photo of the transformer, or a drawing of the pin configuration

This is my problem, Martin lighting has given me this info on replacement Tranny, it needs to be:

Traffo - 2 x 110V/ 9v/ 1VA

But if you look at bottom picture the pin configuration is different to any I can find online from RS or Farnell ect, the two Output Pins (white box, pic 2) are close together and everything I have seen are too far apart for the board?

Any help or links to a suitable replacement would be greatly appreciated.

Have been onto the original Tranny makers in Sweden but they say this part is owned by Martin and cannot help.

May suit but does not have 115v option. The data sheet gives the pin spacings of the range.

Otherwise affix a suitable transformer to the board pins up, and run well made jumper wires to connect it.

Otherwise try finding a suitable space inside the outer case and fit a transformer with leads onto the board.

Will you ever need the 115v option that paralleled primaries offers?

That one would work fine. You can ignore the 2 middle pins of the 110V side, they just use that so they can offer a 110V version of the unit for US market.

Brilliant many thanks, one question is the chap at Martin said something about they had bridged the two centre pins on the original? So would this one go straight in and no need for those two centre pins? You can see the bridge in the pcb photo I posted.

Yes the bridge is just there to make a 240v winding from 2x 110v windings in series. If you buy a 240v transformer you don't need to do this.

Great Stuff, have ordered one, it’s on its way. Many many thanks for your help, much appreciated.

So the latest...I bought the tranny as recommended from RS, fitted it, removed bridge and still dead !! I have noticed that where the bridge was there is two Resistors and something else..Please see photos.. R27, R26 & C4. Should there not be some way of connecting these back up or are they just in place as previous tranny was 2x 110v?

Check that you have the new transformer in right and all solder joints are clean.

Check that the old transformer is proven faulty.

Check that the rest of the board is OK.

Photograph the board, both sides, reverse one and overlay the pics to aid in drawing the circuit from the board

It would be worth checking that you are getting mains voltage to the primary side and low voltage AC from the secondary side.

One of your solder joints looks a bit dry. It might be worth reflowing them with fresh lead based solder.
