Bohemian Rhapsody film, sad lighting spotter

I thought the "Bohemian Rhapsody" film was very good, but I annoyed my wife by noticing that the moving lights on the Live Aid reconstruction were not right (should have kept quiet). I was a bit surprised since they faithfully reproduced just about everything else including building the stage out of kwikform and having the crew hanging out of the side towers. They even included Trip Khalaf's story about pushing up the master faders to make Queen louder than everyone else.

So any other sad lighting spotters out there could identify what they used in the film (and can remember what they had at the proper Live Aid - they were very boxy - the original VL1?). The film ones were quite wide and flat - maybe VL4000 spots?

Mind you I was very picky with that film with the Live Aid Bit.

Even the lighting were wrong with the Par 64's. Wrong lighting Gels with the side by side comparisons.

There was one part of the side by side where the moving heads did look wrong. They looked too modern. I am pretty sure they used the VL1's in the 1984 original live aid but in the film they used something newer because of the Yokes.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. I am so picky. On this vid from youtube.

What concerned me more while watching the film was that it said that Queen split up before Live Aid and Freddie knew he had aids before Live Aid.Didn't remember hearing about either of these at the time.

Looked them up when I got home and Queen never split up and it was two years after Live Aid that Freddie was told he had aids.

Dispute this I found it a very enjoyable film, funny, moving and sad at times.

Cheers

Gerry

I spotted this when they released the trailer in August. I'm pretty sure they were VL1s at Live Aid.

Here is the screenshot of the trailer.

My other comment at the time was "Also, In Mama Mia 2, what was the make of compact, hand held radio mic that was available in a small Taverna on an obscure Greek Island in 1979?"

Haven't seen the film yet but a colleague has suggested it looks like EDC but painted.

EDC (if gold-coloured metal body), Micron (maybe a bit up-market for your average small-island taverna?), Audio
