With scaling: Ascender 32

Without scaling: data video HS2800, then smaller offerings from Roland and Datavideo.

Like the look of the new Blackmagic ATEM HD announced yesterday... at that price it's worth a punt, even if you need a few decimators on the input side to take care of scaling.

The only annoying thing is the HDCP, but I think that all equipment get hit with that.

I remember discussing this with a Kramer rep a while ago. Apparently if you are a member of the HDCP organisation, your products are scrutinised, and if you release something that defeats the copy protection, they will kick you out. I got the impression that he was very weary of customers asking him to provide ways around it.

I totally agree with the idea behind HDCP and once when I got a pirate DVD contacted FACT, and got a very lacklustre reply.

But it does men that if anyone supplies me with a DVD to play I have to think very carefully as to what output devices I am going to use as the Roland will not use any of the analogue outputs if the HDCP is turned on.
