  1. Cheers Dave but they need to be independent (think patch panel). All sorted now with a 3U and a 1U. Steve
  2. I have two 1u 19 inch rack panels punched with eight iec C13 female holes (screw fix). I need another one but can't seem to find any that are punched with eight holes, only six. Has anybody got any idea who sells these?
  3. Hey Guys. Thanks for all the replies. Lots and lots of food for thought for which I am very grateful. I had actually come to the conclusion that trussing was probably an overkill and take all the points about second hand truss very seriously. I'm going to go to the local structural engineer (I have a good tame one) and take advice. I don't want to fix to walls the composition of which I have no knowledge and my landlord will undoubtedly take issue (long story!!). I'm actually now thinking scaff trussing, braced but not fixed to walls on staff verticals fixed to the floor. The floor is very strong concrete (for known good reason which I might explain later!) Don't worry guys, I will take professional structural advice.
  4. Thanks Paul. That is the intention. I need help with the design. The space is 6m30 by 5m90 and 3m60 height. It's the loading I need to know about. Obviously I can use a manufacturer but as ever the budget might not stretch to new. We might brace off walls but I don't want to fix to them. It's basically a big table!! I can fix to the floor.
  5. Sorry if there is s thread on this one but I couldn't find it. We are in the process of converting a building into a studio theatre. The idea is to have a free standing lighting grid built out of trussing. Fixing to the floor is not a problem but walls and ceiling might be. Does anybody know who we can turn to for design. Financials might mean that we source second hand so we need a designer.
  6. Graemeftv has DMX converters for these alphapacks.. we 'won' a free one from him, and it works treat. Do you have the link for these https://ultralightsound.co.uk
  7. In case anybody else is interested, I now have Trantec hand microphones on all four of the new frequencies of 173.8, 174.2, 174.6 and 175 MHz. With all receivers close to the mixer and testing each microphone within 3 feet of the rx, I can use any combination of two and the two combinations of three excluding 173.8, 174.2 and 174.6. Obviously I cannot use all four together. Interestingly, even though the combinations above are useable, an output from intermodulation can always be seen on the unused channel when other combinations are in use. I will experiment again with increased distance between tx and rx and add to this thread. I only have two VHF belt packs so cannot test these where the results may well be different because of the increased power.
  8. Thanks for the replies guys. For information I have been involved in radio communications for fifty years or so both professionally and as an hobbyist. In the amateur radio world, 12.5kHz channel spacing for NBFM operation is commonplace in the 144MHz band so having 400kHz spacing is a luxury!! What I don't understand is that if any four frequencies are available, which is what Canford suggest, why can we only use any three? This cannot be an intermodulation issue, nor a deviation problem. The VHF band is exclusive to radio microphones so it can't be a sharing issue. I am using Trantec VHF radio microphones and can indeed use all four frequencies without a problem. I haven't actually used all four together but thought that I would ask opinions before acquiring a fourth unit.
  9. Canford say that it is typical for three VHF frequencies to be used together. http://www.canford.co.uk/Technical/Article/UKLegalRadioMicFrequencies Can someone explain why four frequencies cannot be used in the VHF band? If I use 173.8, 174.2 and 175.0MHz then why not 174.6MHz as well? Sorry in advance if I'm missing something obvious.
  10. Hi Peter,

Do you still have the spare demux cable for sale?

  11. Hi Will, I've just seen a post of yours regarding an idiot's guide to the Behringer LC2412 desk. Do you still have a copy?

    Regards

    Steve
