IRW
Hi, I have a question about spare parts from the 520i console . The playback button x1 bounces sometimes . Are there any substitute for it ? regards Other than finding a console for spares, I think you may struggle! The easiest workaround if you don't routinely use dual playback, is to enable the second playback, and use that instead! Edited to add, just noticed you said the x1 playback, which implies you are already using dual playback. If so, disregard my above workaround! gareth
You could try Greg Joy at http://www.xnlgroup.co.uk/ - I've had some success in obtaining spares for Strand consoles from him in the past (he doesn't carry a massive stock, but sometimes has some of the more obscure bits lying around in a dusty corner!). That said, though, I haven't had a need to be sourcing Strand spares since about 5 years ago now, and some things were hard enough to find then - so goodness knows how difficult it'll be now. http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif
Brian
It'll be a standard part available from any number of sources. If anyone has a close-up photo and details of part-number on it I'm sure we can track it down.
Kazeja
I find that some IPA or switch cleaner usually does the job. Whilst there are 2 switches below the GO button, only one is actually used for the GO function. The other one is redundant and just used to support the cap. Depending on it's state and how desperate you are, you may get away with swapping the 2 switches. Failing that, White Light do have some spare switches. GridGirl
We had an issue with the GO button double-tapping sometimes - I walked in the next night to find my chief LX with the desk open, a soldering iron in his hand, swapping the switches from x2 GO and x1 GO. If you don't use both playbacks and are confident doing this (I knew he wouldn't cause any damage!), this solution could work for you.
Theatermeister
Thanks for all the tips and advice . I only use the X2 Playback but my colleague is left-handed and always used X1 Playback . I'll have at our Strand service ( Lucifer ) in Wolfenbüttel ask whether there are any spare buttons . The 520i console is ideal for theater and just great . I got from the Philips strand service in the USA the full number of channels and applications for free, the console now has 6000 channels and 2000 Attributes best regards
