Hello!
I wanted to let everyone know about a course available online concerning instruction in live audio engineering. SAE is well known for their recording arts programs both physical and online. Many people may not be aware that there are short, 4 week courses available for novice live sound engineers as well! Follow this link to Live Sound Engineering 101:FOH Mixing to read more about this course. It is intended to supplement the knowledge of novice sound engineers that have some working knowledge of the live audio environment. It is not recommended for true beginners. The course covers the technical development of sound systems and related terminology (one cannot discuss audio systems without understanding the lexicon [vocabulary] of live audio.) Microphones and micing techniques, gain structure and signal path, dynamic processors (compressors, limiters and gates) and advanced mixing techniques concerning effects used in live audio mixing (echo and reverb) are all covered in this course. The course utilizes one textbook ( the Yamaha Sound Reinforcement Handbook) and 6 in-depth presentations by the author on the subjects listed above. Students are awarded a certificate upon completion of the course. Please have a look if you're interested in live audio and don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!
