db Tech. DVA T8

Thanks folks.

Just wasn't sure. Bought from the UK distributer but noticed the cheaper sites like Thomann and music store sell without mains.

My reason for asking is it saves me buying powercon links as I can just buy grey powercon sockets for the other end of of the shipped leads to make up links.

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated. I haven't bought subs with them yet so if anybody has any suggestions I'd be happy to hear them.

Cheers

And we have four of the single dB Tech powered 18" bins. If we did more in the way of drum and bass, I'd want perhaps two double 18s per side, but as it is 4xT8 and 2xS18 per side sounds quite pokey for the money.Importantly, the dB Tech bins can have flying hardware fitted so they can be flown from the dB fly frame (and the T8s flown underneath) or the bins can be ground stacked and the fly frame located on top and the T8s located on top. Lastly, there is a tilt able pole mount support for the T8s that can be screwed into the bins. The powered bins are designed to work as a system with the T8s

Actually now you mention it we did also buy 2 single 18s for hanging above the line arrays

A big note on that point though - contrary to Simon's experience, mine did not come 'fitted' with flying hardware, it had to be purchased separately, and we only found this out when it was delivered. So do check with your dealer before committing to it. (We got it sorted fine, had it sent down on overnight courier, but yeah).

As was suggested before I do think the best thing for you to do regarding power and rigging provision is to call your dealer and check exactly what will be in the package

Our bins didn't come with flying hardware either (hence the "can be fitted with" comment). The fabric covers they have available (again, probably an extra at purchase) are a rather tight fit if the flying straps are fitted to the bins.Overall though, it's quite a good system. We have experienced some amp noise and mechanical rattles, but generally we're pretty pleased with them.

Sorry didn't read it properly

We had some steel dollies made up with the flying hardware off the top of a sub (parts supplied happily by DB, then butchered a little) so the line arrays can clip directly onto the dolly and be transported like that; and then had big soft covers that go over the stacked PA made up at 3D cases. Very neat transport system really.

Hi Greig,

I'll answer this one in my role working for the UK and Ireland distributor of dB Technologies.

T4 / T8 / T12 don't ship with power cables. There are cable accessory packs available that your dealer should have told you about. The DCK45 kit for example is a 10m power cable, 3 x 0.5m PowerCon links and 3 x 0.5m XLR-XLR links (suitable for 4 x T8s). In addition to that, some short Cat5 patch cords to link the cabinets and a long one to go back to your RDNET interface will be needed.

With subs, monitors and non-DVA products, we ship with an appropriate 13A UK plug to IEC or Powercon.

Talking about subs, I would suggest looking at the DVA S30. The reason for this is that like the T8 are controllable via RDNET, will more than keep up with your T8s (depending how many you have ordered) and when groundstacking, can be pinned to the DRK 10/20 flying frames that you attach your T8s to (very neat and tidy).

Hi Stuart,

Thanks for getting in touch, I believe it was yourselves that were quoting my friends Dawn and Barry when I was looking to purchase earlier in the month. Sadly it didn't happen with them for a couple of reasons. Namely price and lack of communication, being slow to respond and give quotes. Which was a shame.

Am I able to deal with you direct?

Drop me an email greig@sightandsoundscotland.com

Cheers

Hi Greig,

Like most distributors and manufacturers in our (and many other industries), we have quite strict criteria on who can open a trade account with us.

With dB Technologies, this is stricter than with any of our other brands and we operate a dealership program which requires investment in terms of stock, support, time etc.

We are of course happy to speak to and work with end-users to advise on product selection, use, warranty repairs etc.

On the subject of warranties, here's a shameless plug... in September, we launched a new extended warranty program in the UK and Ireland that allows you to register to extend your warranty from 2 years to 5 years. This is only available on items purchased from one of our UK or Irish based partners. This, however, does mean that if you are buying from Thomann, Music Store, DV247 or another non-UK company, you won't be eligible for the extended warranty.

Plug over. If you or any forum users need advice on dB Technologies products, please feel to contact me or one of my colleagues.

Regards,

Stuart

DV247 are a UK registered company aren't they?
