  1. I was in a small venue in the US in 2018 where their lighting control was some piece of software running on an Apple II. There used to be a web page about the software but I can't find it anymore. I didn't get to use it, unfortunately, as we were in a different space that used QLab for lighting control. ETA: It might have been this but I could have sworn it was DMX not analog, maybe there were different versions!
  2. It also appears that this may not be the first planning issue they've been involved in. https://www.theplanner.co.uk/2023/11/06/medieval-barn-owners-guilty-breaching-planning-conditions They have also had planning permission for a venue on this site turned down twice before in 2019 https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/people/fareham-borough-council-challenges-titchfield-festival-theatre-following-construction-of-450-seat-theatre-without-planning-permission-4428953 What an odd story.
  3. To add to your list of things to be careful of, many rechargeable AAs are ever so slightly larger in diameter I can't remember if it was a problem with the Trantec packs, but it's a definitely a no go in Line6 transmitters, which were just too tight.
  4. I once helped install some kind of machine tool many years ago, that arrived on a pallet as expected. Turned out there was a missing cable that was dispatched the next day. It, which was something like a D25-D25 about 50cm long, arrived in a jiffy bag carefully wrapped onto a pallet. Delivery driver didn't seem surprised and said it happens all the time.
  5. When I bought in this space a few years back the SQ6 itself was about 2/3 the cost of a S21. If you added a stage box and Dante card the SQ, especially with the 48KHz boxes, worked out considerably less than half the price. I didn't get on with the S21 when I tried it. I think it was mostly a personal preference in UI design thing so others will almost certainly disagree!
  6. I have no experience with it, but I did spot this budget option a while back. No idea if it's even vaguely usable or reliable. I'd rule it out as it's got built in rechargeable batteries, but as it apparently works "without battery or mains power" maybe that's not a problem. Who knew a radio mic manufacturer would be the ones to finally crack perpetual motion?
  7. Unless you've got a Dante card for it, the smallest box is the half rack space DX88-P which is 8in/8out but on phoenix connectors. If you've got a Dante card then there's no end of options but none with convenient preamp control on the mixer. If you can "put up with" 48KHz there is always the AR84 which is smaller cheaper but still bigger than you're looking for.
  8. As they are currently at Red 5 Audio I've never used them but might have a try for high risk situations. I inherited a RVD1 kick drum mic, that whilst not a miracle cheap replacement for the usual suspects, I really liked for some situations. No other experience.
  9. I don't know if you're looking, or this is just of historical info. I highly recommend Zen Internet I've been with them for my home connection since 2007 and moved my work connection (from Plusnet whom we had no end of trouble with) in 2019. All FTTC products as it's all that's available in the area. I think that I've had exactly one problem in 16 years at home that was not Openreach planned maintenance/outage. Work connection has been pretty much flawless. The one time I did have an outage, support was excellent and I got straight through to someone who actually knew exactly what to do. It was long enough ago that I can't remember the details of. And of course, if anyone wants a referral link for a £25 gift card when signing up..............
  10. Whilst we’re not in an area that is listed as changing over to fibre anytime soon, we as a theatre have already had to move some services. Our Redcare burglar alarm service was ended so had to move to IP/Mobile. Our phone system was provided via ISDN which we were warned was by BT/Openreach would be switch off “within the next 2 years” about 4 years ago, but still hasn’t! So we switched to VOIP. I’m concerned about the loss of service aspect. We’ve still got a working analogue phone line, for the moment, but loss of internet would mean the end of pretty much all business systems, Box Office, finance, membership, incoming telephones and more. I’m currently looking at backup options be it 4/5g or Starlink, but they’re relatively expensive options to backup an internet connection that has gone down for maybe 5 minutes in the last 5 or so years. Another option is to look into tethering a phone to the internet router, as I usually have a decent amount of data left every month, and limiting network use to just the low bandwidth business systems for the duration of the main connection outage. It’s a real concern that I think we’re only just waking up to. The other aspect from a residential point of view is that these modern VoIP phones need power, so in a power cut?
  11. When I needed some repairs on an iLive system it was handled by the distributer Audi Technica and I seem to remember sending it to the Leeds area. There is a list of service centres on ATs website. https://distribution.audio-technica.eu/en/allen-heath/servicecentres/
  12. Agree with all that said above, especially the points on angles and blocking. Also remember that if your walls are semi transparent, with front projection, the projection will also go through and show up on whatever is behind. This can give double images. With rear projection on semi transparent you'll have the be careful that the audience cannot see the projector lens, or they will see a hotspot especially in blackouts unless you've got a shutter or control the output of the projector. We did a show a few years back that had a similar effect that was simply projected at a fairly sharp downwards angle, careful blocking and accepting we couldn't project to the floor made it work.

No. Figure53 deserve to be paid for the tools they create. You can rent an audio license for $5 a day which can then be used against the purchase price of a license. I don't think you can get any fairer than that.
  14. I've got a couple of NetPixel ONEs from smart show that have been great. 32 universes of ArtNET to 8 outputs. They don't appear to have anything available, but might be worth contacting as the were very keenly priced.
  15. I picked up one of these from Thomann which has worked well for me. No XLRs but (I think!) balanced 1/4" and a handy magnet in the base. Plastic construction, but cheap! You'd probably want to factor in a UK PSU however as he Euro one supplied with a UK adapter is not particularly practical.
