Sennheiser EW100 G2 - Change Band

Hi,

I am looking to purchase a few Sennheiser EW100 G2 beltpacks and handhelds. One of the microphones I am looking at is set to the frequency 835.850 which according to the Shure frequency chart is Channel 66. Is it possible to change this to channel 70. I do not currently have the mic as I would like to know if it is possible before I spend lots of money...

Thanks in advanced for your help

With the G2 range you can now only use the 4 channels in the license-exempt band 863-865MHz (in band 70) in the UK.

See Page 6 "Radio Microphone G2 Range E (830-865 MHz Ch66-Ch70)" in this pdf:

Using Bank 8 you can use the 4 frequencies 863.1MHz, 863.5MHz, 864.3MHz, 864.9MHz which are in the license-exempt band.

It'll retune to ch70 in theory (check the range, it'll say on the sticker on the back of the unit).

There are drawbacks to using Ch.70 though - especially if the mic is either critical, or being used in a busy area.

I've touched on it here: http://livesoundblog.com/tips-and-advice/wireless-moving-from-channel-6970-to-channel-38/

Feel free to have a look. I loved my Sennheiser g2 kit, but couldn't really keep it, when it was so critical to the performances I was using it for....it's a risk mitigation game for me to be honest.

As linked to above, G2 Range E units will tune between 830 - 865MHz, but only Bank 8 Channels 1-4 (863.100, 863.500, 864.300, 864.900) can be used in the UK - all the others are illegal to use now.

I presume you are looking at second hand units (given that the G2 range is discontinued)? Furthermore, is the seller aware that they are apparently transmitting illegally?
