Help with Warehouse Fault/Mainatenance Reporting Software

Hi Everyone

Am on the lookout for a software solution that will allow our Warehouse/Workshop staff to log issues/faults/repairs/low stock etc

ie Warehouse employee 'A' notices we are running low on batteries, logs it, and then the system emails key people related to ordering. Something web based (at the user end anyway) would be preferred, and I'd like the end user to see existing/historical requests too?

Happy to go off and create something myself, but I'm guessing there must be a ready made solution out there somewhere...?

Shouldn't stock monitoring be taken care of by the sales software? For example you have X amount of batteries, sell Y amount, and end with Z batteries. If Z is below a preset minimum stock level the software would them automatically flag up that you need to order some more batteries.

I'd look to see what your Rental Management software offers for this.

I know within EasyJob, which we use, this is all possible within the stock feature set, and in the case of items that need repair, logging them in the workshop removes them from rental stock ensuring that you factor the shortfalls into your equipment planning.

Gyro, we don't sell these items as such, batteries, tape etc are all just consumables that the business uses.

Pete, we currently use 'Hiretrack', but I haven't explored the possibility of using this simply because we are limited on the number of users by our license. To add one more user moves us up to the next pricing bracket and it's a rather large step up!

Based on previous experience, I figured I could take a 'helpdesk' application and customise it for our needs, just wanted to check there wasn't something readily available that was built for purpose.

Thanks all for your input.

James

Which is dull. That said the 'cost' of that one licence and allowing you to keep everything in one place might be the same as the 'cost' of taking additional software, customising it and then trying to interface the two systems. Worth considering the intangible costs as well as the upfront ones.
