RentalPoint Consumables

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has experience with using RentalPoint in to catalogue and manage consumables levels? My workplace is looking at getting RentalPoint for many other reasons, but I am hoping I can integrate a consumables database with tracking and warnings for low stock levels etc.

Cheers

It is a lot of work to manage consumables in a rental system. Especially for things like tape, cable ties, sash cord etc. I have seen two different companies try - both ended up with frequent count miss-match issues resulting in running out of consumables.

If you are just looking to manage things like replacement lamps and cables, that is certainly a bit more do-able. Not a RP user, but quite often consumables like lamps can have stock decreased through a service module.

The way we used to track small consumables was to increment stock when we did a purchase and then do a monthly count of wrapped stock (if the plastic was broken we counted it as used) and then write off down to the count level. We had visibility on how our stock decreased over the month.

Also try to store items in such a way that it's obvious, at a glance, when items are running low. Open shelves / tubs are better than drawers or cupboards. It also makes undertaking a formal stocktake quicker and easier.

Thanks for this mac.calder, I most likely will be forced to use RP for managing fixtures, so will attempt to manage consumables whilst also running a standard inventory until I'm convinced either way. Cheers

Moderation: Edited to remove reference to a blatant attempt to hide the self-promotion of a product.
