Caster Hardware

Firstly, get some good castors... two Guitel 37023 and two Guitel 37024 (using Adam Hall part numbers) is a popular choice. The whole point of using T nuts is that after fitting you can take out the bolt without accessing the inside of the case or enclosure (which by now might be foam lined or made inaccessible). Just put a split washer (and a washer if needed) with the hex bolt when fitting the castor.

Also, make the bolt length equal to the combined thickness of castor plate, washers, wood and T nut. I aim to make the bolt end flush with the T nut.

In terms of sturdiness, I have happily manhandled cases and speakers fitted with castors on T nuts and hex bolts for years without a problem!
