Scenic Painters Summer School

[DAP Studio]

I will be running an intensive four week long course in scenic painting and scenic art from my Studio in Carshalton, South London this summer. The course runs from 3-28 August and will cost £1600 including VAT. I've run two week courses each summer from 2009 from my studio. These have acted as a stepping stone for a number of arts graduates who wanted to start careers in scenic painting. I've also been running weekend courses from the studio in 2014/15 and they have proved very popular. The courses are unique in the UK as they are run from a professional Scenic Art studio rather than a university, college or drama school. This year the two week course has been expanded to four weeks. This will allow students to learn how to paint a large range of scenic techniques and learn basic scenic decoration, wallpapering and distressing. there will also be two cloth painting projects, one focusing on painting cloths on the floor and the other using the studio's paint frame. Those taking part will be able to paint and photograph work for a portfolio so that they can start to look for work in the industry. We will discuss the preparation of CV's and how to go about approaching employers.
